Every blog post I do where I want to try and make it readable and actually say something – it feels like I have to give a meaningful speech at someone important’s wedding dinner. What to say about these photos I am about to show you?
A few years back I saw some incredibly pretty images of Lago di Braies. Those colors, those mountains and the wooden boats! Since then it has been on my wishing list. Throughout this year, Stan (my man and the guy behind many of these photos and all the drone shots) and I planned to just go and see it. Lago di Braies, or Pragser Wildsee is located in the Italian Dolomites, a mountain range located in the northeast. In summer lake Lago di Braies reflects colors in all shades of green and blue. It’s not very large and has an adorable lake house where you can rent a wooden boat and go for a ride.
One day last July Fatih and Zeynep contacted me to do some photos for them in Hallstatt. We’ve done so many sessions there and it’s always fun to go there. But the dates didn’t work. Usually, normally I don’t suggest other locations to shoot at to clients, but something told me to do it this time. So I just said: we can’t do Hallstatt, but we could do Lago di Braies four days earlier. The fun part is – Zeynep and Fatih planned to visit the Italian Dolomites anyway – so it was meant to be!
The lake is very popular amongst tourists, so it gets very crowded during the day. We arranged to meet early in the morning to avoid the people. The thing I love about early mornings is the light and the colors it gives. Take a look at these photos and see how the light changed as we started towards the end.

What started out as a cloudy and moody morning, turned out to be a lovely sunny day.
Zeynep & Fatih – we can’t thank you enough for your trust and having us with you. 🙂
